Tyler Malad's Eagle Project

Hi Troop,
For my Eagle Project, I will hold a canned food drive that will benefit Family Assistance Ministries (FAM), a San Clemente based organization that provides food to the hungry and homeless. After having a volunteer list set up, I plan on having six scouts to stay in front of Albertsons entrances (four at the table and two delivering donations to my parents’ car) with a duration of 2.5 hour shifts to collect canned food from customers. There will be two shifts: 10AM-12:30PM and 12:30PM-3PM. Collection will take place on August 8th, 9th, and 15th in front of the Albertsons near Walmart in San Clemente. FOOD and drinks will be provided for the volunteers. I will also need two scouts from the 2nd shift each day to help store the canned goods in my garage. After all collections, I will need 3 scouts on August 24th to help sort and unload canned goods at FAM in San Clemente (approx. 2 hours).

Chris Mauerman’s Eagle Scout Project

Chris Mauerman’s Eagle Scout project is collecting, sorting, and picking food for Second Harvest Food Bank during the month of August.  On August 9th, scouts are needed to pass out flyers with lists of needed food/supplies at St. Andrew’s By-the-Sea United Methodist church as the services end.   The address is: 2001 Calle Frontera San Clemente, CA 92673.  There are two services and he will need 3 scouts to volunteer at the end of each service.  Scouts who volunteer after the first service will need to arrive at 9:45AM, while scouts who volunteer after the second service will need to arrive at 11:15AM.  On August 16 and 23, the same number of scouts are needed at the same times to collect food donations at that location.  On August 8, scouts are needed to help sort food at Second Harvest Food Bank’s warehouse at the Irvine Great Park from 1-4pm.  On August 22, scouts are needed to help pick produce at Second Harvest Food Bank’s farm at the Irvine Great Park from 1-3pm.  On August 15 and 23 from 1-4pm, scouts are needed to help collect food donations at the Albertson’s next to San Clemente High School.  To sign up, contact Chris Mauerman at Cmauerman@cox.net or (949) 366-6484.  

ALERT! Camp Emerald Bay - Last Minute Availability

Troop 737 has one last opening to attend Camp Emerald Bay, which occurs August 2nd through August 8th, 2015.  If any Scout or Adult leader wants to attend, please call Mr. Mike Winsten ASAP at 949.633.5458 or by email at:  mike@winsten.com .  The cost is $674 for Scouts and $474 for adults. Committee Meeting on July 23

There will be a committee meeting on Thursday, July 23rd starting at 7pm at the San Clemente Elks Lodge. The address is 1505 North El Camino Real. Parking is in the back. Meeting is through the patio and up the back stairs.

Congratulations Jason Kearny Our New Senior Patrol Leader

Last night the Troop 737 elected Jason Kearny to be our new Senior Patrol Leader. Christian Wentzel was elected our new Senior ASPL. They will be putting together their leadership team at the PLC meeting at the Fort House this evening (Tuesday, July 14th). 

Please bring your Leadership application, dress in class A and be prepared to be interviewed for the position you want to hold. 

Chris Mauerman's Eagle Project Fundraiser

Chris Mauerman will be having his Eagle Scout Project Fundraiser on Wednesday, July 15 from 4-9:30 PM at the Baja Fresh in San Clemente (979 Avenida Pico, Suite A).  He will be at the next Troop Meeting (July 13) to pass out fliers and to recruit volunteers.  Any scouts who want sign up as volunteers should contact him at: Cmauerman@cox.net.  
Also, any Scouts who volunteer will need to pass out fliers to their friends, family, and surrounding communities.  In addition, he will need 2 Scouts for each 1.5 hour shift at Baja Fresh during the fundraiser.  He will have the shift sign-up sheets with me at the Troop Meeting on Monday.
